Mad Hatter & Happy Hatter – July 8

Mad Hatter
Everyone complaining about NECH not having any proper stores needs a reality check. You live in Medicine Hat and “across town” isn’t an excursion to IKEA. First, stop saying you don’t have grocery stores just because you don’t have the grocery store you want. And oh my dear god almighty, you have to drive 20 minutes across town if you want something else. This is the most ‘small-town’ complaint I have ever heard. It’s 20 minutes. If you were in a big city you could expect to be stuck in traffic twice as long while you tried to make your way to shops.

Mad Hatter
The north side of Medicine Hat needs another grocery store and home supply store. A home supply store would be useful for Redcliff residents also.

Happy Hatter
Yesterday evening we stopped by Moxies after the show and share some appetizers much to our surprise a kind gentleman paid our bill.  You don’t realize how your kindness affected us.  My partner has had a rough 21 months. He broke his ankle and had had 3 surgeries and it has been hard on him. He cannot drive so has been stuck at home while I work.  This was a night out to help with the boredom and you made is so special…thank you

Mad Hatter
Does the guy complaining about having to drive south for hardware supplies forget that Redcliff has a Home Hardware? Or did you forget that Princess Auto is right there?! But if that 5 minutes is even too much of a drive and you want these shops in your backyard so desperately – move.

Happy Hatter
Finally, the city is looking at cost-saving opportunities, like not having the north end fitness centre staffed on a stat holiday.  Even though it was fairly busy there weren’t enough people there to justify paying staff double time.

Happy Hatter
New dryland classes for summer at fitness location in Crescent Heights, fantastic idea to keep people active.  Hope those classes continue on and are not just summer classes.

Mad Hatter
One of the problems with social media is that people read an article (or more likely only a headline) and leave the first thought that comes into their head. What happened to looking at something from as many perspectives as possible and leaving comments that express an opinion and back it up with rational arguments. The art of persuasion is dying in favour of sound bites and non-specific, unsupported opinions not backed by fact. It is exhausting! Is the world really full so many irrational, inconsiderate, apathetic and ignorant people? I think not; I suspect this comes down to mental laziness!

Mad Hatter
Come on council, do some road and pothole repair in this city or put the roads back to gravel as you sure don’t do road repair here.

Mad Hatter
Environmental groups funded by deep-pocketed U.S. charities have been deliberately trying to landlock Alberta resources for years.

Mad Hatter
What a surprise!  The same drug dealers, thieves and bottom feeders are making the news again and receiving even more charges on top of their lengthy rap sheet.  When are these criminals going to be sentenced and start doing community service or prison time so they can finally pay for their crimes and attempt to change their life around?  Obviously letting them out with a verbal reprimand is not working!

Mad Hatter
Why are there no ice cream places in the Mall?  If I want ice cream on a hot day and must leave the Mall to get it, I won’t be back to shop. The mall owner charges too much rent, so nobody wants to open there. Also, we need diversified shops, not just clothing.

Happy Hatter
Happy to see all the events on North end of Medicine Hat this past weekend.
